Springfield teen dies after she’s struck by train

WASHINGTON — An 18-year-old Springfield, Virginia, woman died after she was struck by a train Monday night in Burke, Virginia.

Fairfax County police identified the woman and Erika Dunn.

She and two friends were walking along the tracks when she was struck, police say.

Police responded at 9:38 p.m. to the report of a pedestrian struck in the 9500 block of Burke Road.

Dunn was rushed to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she died.

Nobody else was hurt.

The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of Dunn’s death, and police say an investigation is underway.

Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
