Prince William Co. Board of Supervisors’ to unveil school funding budget

WASHINGTON —   The Prince William Board of County Supervisors is scheduled to meet later this week to set real estate property tax rates and other business and occupational fees. It’s also expected to set the funding for public schools for the next school year.

The school board is warning that the county might cut the proposed school budget more than $9 million. School board chairman Ryan Sawyers says any cut of that magnitude would endanger existing programs including full day kindergarten, robotics and elementary strings.

The proposed school budget includes funding to address overcrowding and also provides a pay raise to teachers and staff.
