Outer Loop reopens after fatal crash

WASHINGTON — A fatal crash closed the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway between St. Barnabas Road and Branch Avenue in Prince George’s County for more than two hours early Friday.

Police at 4:30 a.m. said the highway would be closed for a couple of hours, but the right lane and right shoulder reopened just after 5 a.m. and all lanes were reopened just before 7.

Maryland State Police say the crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on the Outer Loop, where it passes over Temple Hill Road, just before the exit for Branch Avenue.

The driver of the car died.
