DC gets its first Rosewood Hotel

WASHINGTON — Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, a luxury hotel operator with 19 resorts in places such as Paris and Beijing, has taken over management of the Capella hotel in Georgetown.

The luxury boutique hotel, on the C&O Canal is now called the Rosewood Washington, D.C.

The Capella, with a popular rooftop lounge and a basement rye bar, opened in 2013.

The original owner, Castleton Hotel Partners, converted the former American Trial Lawyers Association building on 31st Street Northwest into a luxury hotel with 49 rooms and suites.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Grill Room, includes an outdoor patio along the C&O Canal.

Room rates range from about $500 to more than $1,000 a night.

The property is now owned by CTF Georgetown Hotel LLC.
