GAMBRILLS, Md. (AP) — The birthplace of Johns Hopkins is now up for sale for $700,000.

CapitalGazette.com reports the Polm Cos. and Preservation Maryland, the developer that owns White Halls, announced Wednesday that it has teamed up with preservationists to find buyer who’ll repair and maintain the estate.

The home is located on 13 acres of land in Gambrills, and has been vacant for years.

Preservation Maryland Executive Director Nicholas Redding reached out to the developer, after Polm Cos. asked Anne Arundel County for a permit to demolish the estate.

Redding said they’ve already heard from some “seriously interested buyers.”

Records show the house was built between 1784 and 1795. Hopkins, who is known for helping to start the hospital and university named after him in Baltimore, was born there in 1795.
