Dozens gather for vigil remembering Va. mom killed in domestic shooting

WASHINGTON — A mother of three who police say was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend was remembered during a vigil in Leesburg.

Friends and family of 34-year-old Christina Fisher gathered at Brandon Park in Leesburg to honor her life and questioned why a protective order against her former boyfriend, Darrick Lee Lewis, didn’t work.

WTOP’s television news partner NBC Washington reports Fisher won the protective order just 11 days before the shooting.

Two of Fisher’s friends said they helped organize the vigil Monday night to bring awareness about domestic violence.

Police say the initial 911 call about a verbal domestic dispute had come from a child in the home on Nansemond Street SE at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday.

Once police arrived, they found Fisher suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was flown to a hospital, where she later died.

Lewis, 30, of Middleburg, Va., has since been charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and violation of a protective order. He was ordered held in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bail.

The pair shared two children.
