BRIDGEWATER, Va. (AP) — A Virginia company is restoring the first presidential aircraft to be called Air Force One.

WVIR-TV (http://bit.ly/1pJMdiv ) reports that the Dynamic Aviation Group is working on recreating the interior of the aircraft to resemble what it looked like when President Dwight Eisenhower flew in it.

Dynamic Aviation Group founder Karl Stoltzfus says the group wants to use the aircraft as a teaching device to help young people understand American history.

The aircraft, called Columbine II, flew from Arizona to Bridgewater, Virginia, on Wednesday. Lockie Christler, captain of aircraft, says the plane has been performing well thus far.

The aircraft was built in 1948. Dynamic Aviation Group expects the restoration project to take several years.
