Branch Ave. to be closed for overnight construction in Prince George’s Co.

WASHINGTON — Beginning Monday night, and for a scheduled four consecutive nights, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration is scheduled to temporarily close a half-mile stretch of Md. 5/Branch Avenue.

The road will be closed between Auth Road and Auth Way. Weather permitting, the scheduled closures will have graduated lanes closing between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

There will posted detours, but SHA suggests that regional travelers consider Md. 414/St. Barnabas Road as an alternate route.

The work is for the steel beam setting in part of the $37 million Interchange Construction project, the new bridge over Md. 5 connecting Woods Way, slated for completion in the summer 2017.
