1 dead, 2 injured in Fairfax County shooting

WASHINGTON — One person was killed, and two others injured in a shooting Wednesday night in the Mount Vernon area of the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, Virginia.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. inside an apartment on Audubon Avenue, near U.S. 1.

Police said one of the victims, a man, died at the hospital. Two others were injured, and they are being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Fairfax County police conducted what spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell described as an “exhaustive search” for a suspect Wednesday night as police followed up leads.

Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
