Man charged with Montgomery Co. attempted rape

WASHINGTON — Police say a Montgomery County man approached a woman as she entered her house and sexually assaulted her earlier this month.

Montgomery County police say on Oct. 8 at about 8:45 p.m., officers responded to residence on Drexel Hill Circle for the report of a sexual assault.

The 46-year-old victim says she parked her car in the neighborhood and was walking to her house when she noticed a man — later identified as 40-year-old Christian Sarria — was following her. When the victim opened her front door, police say Sarria approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The woman screamed for Sarria to stop. Hearing the commotion, the victim’s brother, who was inside the house, came to the door, police say. Sarria fled once the brother came to the door.

On Oct. 15, police released photos of the suspect. Sarria, having seen the photos on the news, turned himself in to police.

Sarria is charged with one count of attempted second-degree rape. Sarria was transported to the Central Processing Unit. His bond information is not yet available.
