The Latest: Thousands without power in Virginia

UPDATE: As of 10:30 a.m. Saturday, some 2,203 customers throughout Virginia were out of power, including more than 600 Northern Virginia customers. ---  

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Nearly 7,000 customers in Virginia have lost electricity as heavy rains continue to pound the state.

Outages can be tracked at the Dominion Virginia Power website.

Appalachian Power says on its website that about 4,200 outages have occurred in southwestern Virginia, including nearly 2,800 in Pulaski County.

Dominion Virginia Power reports about 2,700 homes and businesses are without power. About 1,000 of those were in the Richmond area and 875 were in northern Virginia.
