For the right price, Martin O’Malley will sing you a song

WASHINGTON — Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley may be trying to sing his way into the White House. In his pursuit of the Democratic bid for president, O’Malley is offering donors a “personalized thank-you song” for $25 a pop, according to a campaign email sent Friday. It is true that showing his musical side is nothing new for the politician. O’Malley fronts a rock band called O’Malley’s March and serenaded supporters during a campaign stop in Iowa this summer.

Last week, O’Mally even got a Twitter shout out from the Dropkick Murphys for his use of Celtic punk band’s song, “Shipping Up to Boston,” during a campaign event, Billboard reports.

O’Malley served as Maryland’s governor from 2007 to 2015. It seems he could use the exposure for the presidential race. According to a recent CNN poll, O’Malley trails far behind the top two contenders for the Democratic nomination — Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Records from the Federal Election Commission show he’s also lagging in donors, having raised $2 million compared with Clinton’s $47.5 million. Sanders has raised $15 million, FEC records show.
