Man wielding crowbar shot by police in Prince William County

WASHINGTON — Police in Prince William County, Virginia, say a man wielding a crowbar was shot by an officer Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, a 22-year-old man was spotted by a homeowner in the bushes on her property along Lake Drive in Manassas. The homeowner called police, and when they arrived, officers said the man threatened them with a crowbar.

When pepper spray did not work on the suspect, an officer opened fire.

The man was taken to a hospital, and is expected to survive. No officers were injured.

Police have not yet released any additional information, and are continuing to investigate the incident.
