WASHINGTON — Georgetown University junior linebacker Ty Williams, from Gaithersburg, Maryland, is in a Pennsylvania hospital recovering from a serious neck injury suffered in Saturday’s game against St. Francis.

John Kelley, Williams’ former coach at Quince Orchard High School, told MoCoFootball.com on Sunday that Williams is stable and has feeling in his legs.

In a statement on the website of its athletic department, Georgetown confirmed that Williams underwent surgery at the Altoona UPMC Hospital on Saturday night.

“Ty is one of our leaders on and off the field and is a very important part of the Hoya Football Family.” Georgetown head coach Rob Sgarlata said in the statement. “He is a tremendous young man. We are hopeful that he will progress and we are keeping and him and his family in our thoughts and constant prayers.”
