Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer is putting his seven-year, $210 million contract to good use.

When he’s not tossing no-hitters and shutting out the other teams in the National League’s Eastern Division, he can now kick back and relax at a private, spacious retreat overlooking the Potomac River.

Scherzer and his wife, Erica, recently purchased a $5.2 million home along the banks of the Potomac on Crest Lane in McLean from Chain Bridge Bank director Paul Shiffman. Shiffman is also the senior partner and president of Shiffman & Ricci PC in the District.

The 7,500-square-foot home features four bedrooms, five bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of and access to the river. It also comes with an indoor pool and outdoor decks on each of its four levels.

In addition, the 3-acre property comes with a long, private driveway and a three-car garage.
