New app makes your smartphone videos look vintage

WASHINGTON — If all your old videos are too embarrassing to post for Throwback Thursday, now you can make some new ones that look vintage.

The iPhone app VHS Camcorder, made by the company Rarevision, can make the videos you shot with your phone look like they were shot on — that’s right, an old VHS recorder from the 1980s or ‘90s. It cannot only make the video look old and worn-out, but Mashable reports that it even adds the hiss that’s characteristic of old-school video recording.

It even has a “tilting device makes things worse” feature, and a time stamp that you can set to any date you want, to further blow people’s minds. You can share the videos on Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.

The app is $3.99, and you can get it here. The company says an Android version is on the way.
