Shatner’s tweet leads to a lovely tribute to Nimoy

WASHINGTON — It may have seemed mysterious at first: William Shatner, of “Star Trek” fame, earlier this month tweeted a request for fans to take a photo of themselves doing the Mr. Spock “Live Long and Prosper” hand sign and email it to a specific address.

It turns out there was a method to his madness, Entertainment Weekly reports: Shatner was taking part in GISHWHES — the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, a brainchild of Misha Collins, one of the stars of The CW show “Supernatural.” We still don’t know exactly how the challenge was worded, because the contest, which raises money for various charities including Random Acts, won’t be announced for another week, but Shatner tweeted the beautiful result:

Tammy Duckworth, a U.S. Army veteran who lost both of her legs while serving in Iraq, rebuked Tucker Carlson after the conservative Fox News host attacked her on Monday night and suggested that she hates America. "Does @TuckerCarlson want to walk a mile in my legs and then tell me whether or not I love America?" Duckworth wrote on Twitter.
