D.C. ranks as one of the best U.S. cities for pizza

WASHINGTON —- A nationwide travel site lists the District as one of the 10 best cities in the country for pizza.

TripAdvisor’s list, based on the quality and quantity of reviews posted on their site, lists D.C. as the sixth-best pizza town in the U.S.

The top 10:

  1. Chicago
  2. New York
  3. New Haven, Connecticut
  4. Orlando, Florida
  5. San Francisco
  6. Washington, D.C.
  7. Las Vegas
  8. San Diego
  9. Phoenix
  10. Miami Beach, Florida

It’s curious that Chicago, the home of deep-dish pizza, tops New York, when New York has three in the list of best-loved individual pizzerias and Chicago none. But we’ll take the distinction nonetheless.

The must-try pizza joints in the District, they say, are We the Pizza, on Pennsylvania Avenue on Capitol Hill; Matchbox, with three locations; and Pizzeria Paradiso, with two locations in the District (and one in Alexandria).

Let the arguments commence.
