WASHINGTON — Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters invited fans at New York City’s Citi Field “to share with me the greatest (expletive) moment of my entire (expletive) life” as he was joined onstage for two songs by two members of D.C. hard-core punk pioneers, Bad Brains.

Grohl, seated in the stage throne created to allow him to play concerts with his broken leg, introduced Bad Brains guitarist Gary “Dr. Know” Miller, and bassist Darryl Jenifer to the crowd at the stadium which is home to the New York Mets.

When Grohl was a teenager, living in Springfield, Virginia, playing in D.C. bands Mission Impossible and Scream, he idolized D.C.’s Bad Brains, which was known for playing at breakneck speed, but nitpicking accuracy.

As Miller and Jenifer looked out at the huge audience, Grohl said he was about “to live out my childhood fantasy.”

Along with Foo Fighters Pat Smear and Taylor Hawkins, Grohl, Jenifer, and Miller played two Bad Brains classics, “How Long Can a Punk Get” and “The Regulator.”
