Philadelphia mayor raps with The Roots (Video)

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter capped off hometown heroes The Roots’ performance at the city’s Fourth of July festival by making a cameo during a cover of the classic “Rapper’s Delight.” It takes about a verse before his vocals get turned up in the mix, but you have to stick around for the mike drop:

To those in the know, Nutter’s skills shouldn’t be that much of a surprise: He started off as a DJ, he told Uproxx in a 2011 interview, and he’s done the song before.

The hip-hop icon of Wu-Tang fame has teamed up with the ice cream brand Good Humor to re-imagine the signature "Turkey in the Straw" jingle played by ice cream trucks all over the country. Because, as it turns out, the tune has a problematic past.
