1 seriously injured as truck drives off U.S. 301 ramp

WASHINGTON — An accident on southbound U.S. 301 in Prince George’s County left man seriously injured.

Just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, on the ramp from U.S. 301 to southbound Md. 5, a pickup truck ran off the road and struck a utility pole.

The driver of the truck was flown by medevac helicopter to the hospital, according to Prince George’s Fire and Rescue.

The truck hit a transmission line pole, and 4,600 Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative customers are without electricity.

There is no word on when power will be restored.
