WASHINGTON — The man who jumped off a cliff into the Potomac River south of Great Falls is now presumed to have drowned, according to Montgomery County police.

Crews will continue to search Friday for the body of Marco Reyes-Sanchez, 21, of Reston, says police spokesman Paul Starks.

Reyes-Sanchez and another man entered the Potomac River about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at Sandy Landing. The companion exited the river safely, but Reyes-Sanchez never emerged.

Signs posted along both banks of the Potomac River in multiple languages warn of the river’s dangers and inform people that entering the river without a boat of some sort is illegal.
