Accident causes delays on Inner Loop in Montgomery Co.

WASHINGTON — All lanes are clear and delays are easing on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway after an accident involving a tractor-trailer and flower truck brought traffic to a halt Thursday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Fire Twitter account, the accident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on Interstate 495 between Connecticut Avenue and Georgia Avenue.

The accident forced all lanes of the Inner Loop to shut down.

All lanes reopened at 6:49 a.m.

A box truck containing flowers leaked fuel from its saddle tanks. Hazardous materials crews cleaned it up.

The box truck, which had been on its side, has been removed, and the tractor-trailer has been cleared from the road.

It’s hard to shake up the jam-packed SUV market, but Hyundai managed to do so with the Palisade, as an extreme value play. It seats up to eight, can be equipped with almost every luxury touch and competes with SUVs costing thousands (or tens of thousands) more.
