Registration opens this week for Rock ‘n’ Roll D.C. Marathon

WASHINGTON — Registration for the D.C. Rock ‘n’ Roll events opens this week to the thousands of participants aiming to run in the March event.

Runners can register for the 2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll D.C. Marathon, half marathon and 5K races beginning on May 21, 2015. The races are set to take place on March 12, 2016.

The price for the races when registration is $80 for the marathon, $70 for the half and $35 for the 5K, says Dan Cruz, a spokesman for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series. The prices increase as the race date nears.

The races — known for musical performances on the course and a concert following the events — will start on the National Mall and finish at RFK Stadium.

“We’re working hard to improve the runner experience this year and will be looking to up the ante on the finish line experience,” Cruz said.

The 2016 race will be marathon series’ fifth year in the nation’s capital after it was previously branded the “National Marathon.”
