Truck wedged under Memorial Bridge now free

WASHINGTON – A tractor truck was wedged below the Memorial Bridge along the George Washington Memorial Parkway for several hours Tuesday afternoon.

The entire length of the Coca-Cola truck became jammed under the low-clearance bridge about noon Tuesday blocking a southbound lane.

The truck, which was damaged, was dislodged and all lanes clear by 3:30 p.m.

Park engineers inspected the bridge and determined it sustained no damaged, according to the U.S. Park Police.

Height restrictions on the bridge are 12-foot-1 and 12-foot-4. Commercial vehicles are not allowed to travel along the parkway without a permit.

WTOP’s Dave Dildine contributed to this report.

It seats up to eight, can be equipped with almost every luxury touch and competes with SUVs costing thousands (or tens of thousands) more.
