Here’s the most popular place for a first date

WASHINGTON — If you value creativity in a potential romantic suitor, you may be disappointed by where a lot of people choose to have a first date.

According to a recent study by mobile dating app Clover, the most popular place for two people to meet for the first time is Starbucks.

The study of 200,000 Clover users ages 18 to 65 breaks down preferences by age and gender.

locationsFifty-one percent of men prefer to meet a woman at a restaurant on a first date, 31 percent would choose a coffee shop and 18 percent a bar.

The women in the poll evidently don’t want to rush into a dinner with a stranger — 52 percent would choose a coffee shop, 35 percent would opt for dinner, and 13 percent would prefer to meet for a drink at a bar.

For those in the 18- to 24-year-old range, the favorite place to meet for a first date is Chipotle, followed by Starbucks and Buffalo Wild Wings.

In the 25 to 34 demographic, the most people decided upon is The Cheesecake Factory, followed by Starbucks and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse.

And those older than 35 feel Olive Garden is the best place to get to know someone new, followed by Starbucks and Yard House.

The free Clover app, available in the App Store, features an on-demand dating option which lets users not only flip through potential matches but use location data to find the bars, restaurants and coffee shops nearby to facilitate meeting in person.
