Pacers player stabbed during club altercation

WASHINGTON — Indiana Pacers player Chris Copeland was stabbed in the abdomen — and his wife slashed — during a disagreement at a New York club, The Daily News reports.

The former New York Knicks player is in Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, as is Katrine Saltara, described by police as Copeland’s wife. She was stabbed in the arm and leg.

Charged in the stabbing at the 1 OAK club in Chelsea is Shezoy Bleary, 22. He’s also charged with stabbing a second woman, Catherine Somani, whom police describe as a friend of Bleary’s.

In addition to Bleary, police booked two members of the Atlanta Hawks, Pero Antić and Thabo Sefolosha, for obstruction for trying to keep police from setting up a crime scene, The Daily Mail reports.

Copeland was in New York because the Pacers are playing the Knicks Wednesday night.
