Starbucks goes green with kale smoothies

WASHINGTON – Kale? At Starbucks? It’s coming.

The coffee chain announced on Tuesday that it’s introducing a new line of smoothies, called the Evolution Fresh series, in three flavors: Sweet Greens, Mango Carrot and Strawberry.

They’ll all include Greek nonfat yogurt from Dannon, cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juice. And you can ask them to throw some kale in there as well.

They’re rolling them out in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, as well as selected grocery locations in Target, Safeway and Kroger stores.

You’ll certainly spend some kale for the benefits – Yahoo! reports that the smoothies will run you $5.95.
