Montgomery County adds one day to school calendar

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County Public Schools will only have to make up one snow day this year.

The school system announced Monday evening that the state has approved a plan to extend the year one day — to Monday, June 15.

The county had seven snow days this year; they built in four extra days for potential snow days. Two other days won’t be made up.

Montgomery County had originally asked for all of their missed time to be waived.

June 15 will be an early-release day, the school system announced. A teacher workday scheduled for June 15 will now be held on Tuesday, June 16.
