WASHINGTON — Four robberies occurred on or near a popular bike trail in Northeast D.C. over the weekend.

The robberies — all of which involved a knife — occurred on or near the Metropolitan Branch Trail Sunday, according to information police told The Washington Post.

In all of the robberies, the victim was approached by one or two black men in their late teens or early 20s and asked to surrender cellphones and numeric codes, The Post reports.

The suspects are described as between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall. Also, one of the robbers had a pony tail, police told The Post.

The robberies occurred at different times of the day, the earliest at 11 a.m. and the latest at 7:30 p.m. The suspects approached the victims in the 700 block of Edgewood Street NE, the 500 block of V Street NE and the 2800 block of Eighth Street NE.

No one suffered injuries in the robberies, police told The Post.

The trail, which goes from Union Station to Silver Spring, Maryland, has been the site of numerous crimes, including robberies and sex assaults.
