WASHINGTON — Amy’s Kitchen is recalling more than 70,000 cases of food products due to the possibility of listeria.

The company says it’s not aware of any illnesses, but is issuing the recall out of caution.

In a news release, Amy’s Kitchen says the products contain organic spinach which its supplier says may have listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause infections and even death in the very young or old, or those with weakened immune systems.

Listeria has been known to cause fevers, nausea, abdominal pain, headaches and diarrhea, as well as possible miscarriages or stillbirths.

Amy’s Kitchen offers mostly vegetarian, organic frozen dishes, and the products are sold in most supermarkets.
