WASHINGTON – Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall has reportedly agreed to rework his contract with the team in order to give the team greater financial flexibility in the offseason.

The Washington Post reports that a person with knowledge of the situation says that Hall, whose base salary for the upcoming season is $4 million, had a clause in his contract that said that $1 million of that money would be guaranteed Feb. 15.

Now, however, Hall will only make that money, as well as the rest of his $4 million, if he’s on the 53-man roster.

Hall missed most of last season after tearing his left Achilles tendon. No timetable has been set for his full recovery, the Post reports, and this move means that if Hall couldn’t fully recover and the team cut him, they would owe him only $812,000 – the installment of his signing bonus due this season.
