Washington & Lee’s ‘Mock Con’ gets film treatment

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — A celebrated and venerable political tradition at Washington and Lee University is getting the big screen treatment.

The Lexington school’s quadrennial mock convention will be the focus of a documentary being premiered Thursday.

Informally called “Mock Con,” the polling has correctly picked the eventual nominee of the party out of power 19 of the past 25 presidential elections. Some candidates have courted Washington & Lee students, including Bill Clinton, who played the saxophone in the convention hall/gymnasium.

The documentary is narrated is former CBS newsman Roger Mudd.
