Pepco warns of phone scam

WASHINGTON — Pepco is warning its customers to beware of a new telephone scam.

Someone claiming to be from Pepco is calling homes saying Pepco no longer serves their area, so they must provide personal information to open a new account.

Pepco Spokesman Marcus Beal says Pepco would never make such a call.

Beal says anyone receiving a call from anyone claiming to be from Pepco can call Pepco’s customer service line at 202-833-7500 to verify the contact.
