New resort at Dollywood on track to open this summer

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (AP) — A new resort at Dollywood is just a few months away from opening.

Dollywood vice president of hospitality Amy Owenby told media during a tour of the DreamMore Resort on Wednesday that an exact opening date is yet to be determined, but officials expect the park’s first resort hotel venture to open this summer. The resort is part of a $300 million expansion project that will span a decade.

The hotel will have 307 rooms and amenities that include an indoor pool, a restaurant and a large outdoor pool. It will be open year-round, with festivals and other entertainment during cold months when much of Dollywood is closed.

The resort is expected to employ about 250 workers.
