82-year-old Md. man killed after rear-ending car on I-495

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — Two cars collided in Montgomery County, killing one man who became trapped in his vehicle.

Maryland State Police say 82-year-old James Weld of Silver Spring rear-ended another car on Wednesday afternoon on the inner loop of Interstate 495 in Rockville. Weld’s car flipped on its roof, and he was trapped inside until emergency crews were able to free him.

Paramedics performed CPR but Weld was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The driver of the other car wasn’t hurt

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 301-424-2101.
