Teacher treated after assault by teenage student

WASHINGTON — A teacher was taken to the hospital on Thursday after being assaulted by a 16-year-old student at Tuscarora High School in Frederick County, Maryland.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says the teenage boy is being referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a charge of assault of a teacher.

The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday in a classroom at the high school on Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick, states a news release.

The school resource officer was present and responded quickly, the release says.

The teacher was treated for minor injuries. The teenager was taken to the sheriff’s office.
