Now is the best time for cheap airfare

WASHINGTON — Sure, we’re not quite one month into the new year, but some may already be thinking about vacation.

The typical summer getaway is still six months off. But price-wise, there’s no better time to buy than now, according to Cheapair.com.[related_gallery align=”right”]

Traditionally, mid-January to mid-February is one of the cheapest times of the year for air travel, especially to Europe from the United States.

“To Europe, you could easily save $800 to $900 off flights,” says CEO Jeff Klee.

Many round trip fares to Europe cost far less than $1,000 — even tickets booked without much advance notice.

Domestically, Klee says Hawaii is a deal, costing about $200 to $250 less than summer fares and $400 less than Christmas season.

The deal-hunting bliss only lasts for another month.

“Once you start getting into the spring break time in March, fares will go up,” Klee says. “Spring break weekends to warm-weather destinations, it’s kind of the opposite; they’re pretty expensive.”
