Woman killed in I-495 crash in Virginia

WASHINGTON — A woman was killed in a two-car crash Sunday afternoon on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway, near the South Van Dorn Street ramp in Alexandria.

The Virginia State Police say that Dinora Del Carmen Guzman, 49, of Woodbridge, was entering 495 from the ramp in her Nissan Pathfinder a little after 1 p.m. when she lost control and hit a BMW that was already on the highway. She was not wearing a seatbelt, the police say, and her car overturned and partially ejected her.

The police say speed may have been a factor in the crash; the driver of the BMW wasn’t injured.
