Hogan serving up crabs to Gov. Baker

WASHINGTON —  Maryland’s Governor-elect Larry Hogan and Charlie Baker, who was just sworn in as the 72nd governor of Massachusetts last week, challenged each other to a friendly playoff-game wager on Saturday involving local delicacies.

If the New England Patriots won the playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens, Governor-elect Hogan would have to send a bushel of Maryland blue crabs seasoned with Old Bay to Baker. In turn,  if the Ravens won, Baker was to send Boston cream cupcakes from a local bakery and a case of Boston-brewed beers to Hogan.

“I am looking forward to a Ravens victory—and one of those delicious Boston cream cupcakes,” said Governor-elect Hogan, who will be sworn in as Maryland’s 62nd governor on January 21. However, now he will only be eating his words and  sending a bushel of Maryland’s finest up north.

The Patriots beat the Ravens 35-31.
