Building fire reported in Ashburn

WASHINGTON – A data center under construction is on fire in Ashburn. According to the Loudoun County Fire Department, the three-alarm fire was reported on Smith Switch Road. The fire began on the building’s roof where five people were working. The workers escaped without injury, a fire department spokeswoman says. The fire is under control, the department says. Thick black smoke has been reported north of Dulles International Airport.

Loudoun Co. unpaved roads make Va.’s endangered historic places list

Many people don't realize Loudoun County, Virginia, has 300 miles of unpaved roads until their car's navigation system takes them from a busy commuter route onto an unexpected gravel road. Preservation Virginia — a privately-funded, statewide historical preservation group — has added Loudoun County's rural road network to its "2020 Virginia's Most Endangered Historic Places" list.
