Metro track work returns Friday

WASHINGTON – After a nearly month-long break, Metro rail work returns to weekend track work on Friday Jan. 2.

WMATA says trains will single track from Eastern Market to Stadium Armory. From 10 p.m.

Friday until close of service on Sunday. Riders should plan on longer waits on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines. Trains will run every 24 minutes on those lines.

The rail work is a return to the transit system’s $5.5 billion capital investment project to update its aging infrastructure.

There will be no work on the Red, Green or Yellow lines this weekend.
