Teen falls from bridge onto Beltway

UPDATE – Monday – 1/5/2015, 12:30 p.m. EST — The teen died of his injuries on Jan. 2. Police confirm it was a suicide.

WASHINGTON — Drivers on the Beltway in Maryland got a fright early New Year’s morning after a teenage boy fell off a bridge and onto the roadway.

The Outer Loop was briefly shut down near Old Georgetown Road around 2 a.m.

Pete Piringer, with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, says the teenager was on a pedestrian bridge before falling onto the highway.

He’s been taken to the hospital with very serious injuries.
