Frederick County woman charged with killing grandmother

WASHINGTON — A Frederick County woman has been charged with killing her grandmother, who died after being spotted Monday lying in her front yard with no one else around.

The state police say that Lillie Morris, 67, of Jefferson, was spotted by a passing driver at about 3 p.m. Monday lying in her front yard on Burkittsville Road with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead en route to a hospital.

Hestina Harris, 19, also of Burkittsville Road, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as first-degree assault. She is in custody awaiting a hearing.

The police are asking anyone with any information to call the Maryland State Police at 301-600-4150. You don’t have to give your name.
