DC’s panda cub Bao Bao spends night in tree

WASHINGTON — Bao Bao has come down from the tree.

Panda fans were worried on Christmas Even when they saw on the National Zoo’s Panda Cam that baby Bao Bao had been up in a tree for more than 24 hours.

The zoo took to Facebook on Wednesday to let cam watchers know that Bao Bao had touched the “hot wire” around her enclosure and had gone up the tree where she felt safe afterwards. However, zoo said, the behavior was normal.

Bao Bao, who turned 1 in August, is only the second panda born at the zoo to survive to her first birthday.
