WASHINGTON — The Washington Wizards topped the Boston Celtics, 133-132, at Verizon Center Monday night, but John Wall was in tears after the game.

As CSN reports, Wall met 6-year-old Miyah Telemaque-Nelson in March, after she had been diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma last year. Wall had been writing Miyah’s name on his shoes all season, and started a social-media campaign to help Miyah meet Nicki Minaj and get one of the singer’s trademark pink wigs.

Miyah died Monday morning, and on Monday evening Wall’s shoes read “RIP Miyah.”

He tried to talk about it with CSN after Monday’s game, but he couldn’t do it:
