Shooting reported in Howard County

WASHINGTON — One man was critically injured on Thanksgiving day in a shooting
in Columbia, Md.

Howard County police say they responded to a home on the 5800 block of Stevens
Forest Road around 12:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. According to a news
release, a woman answered her door when someone knocked to find a man wearing a
mask and carrying a gun.

The man “barged in and began shooting,” according to the release.

A 29-year-old man was shot several times. The suspect fled from the apartment.

The male victim was flown to Shock Trauma.

The news release says, “Based on preliminary investigation, police do not believe
this to be a random act.”

The investigation is ongoing.
