WASHINGTON — The all-clear has been given at the Food and Drug Administration’s White Oak campus after a partial lockdown.
Employees received the all-clear through the public announcement system.
In a statement, the FDA says the lockdown was prompted by an unauthorized weapon in a locked vehicle on the agency’s campus in Silver Spring.
“There have been no acts of violence and at no time were employees in imminent danger. A person of interest has been identified and is cooperating with law enforcement,” according to the statement.
The Federal Protective Services put the campus on a partial lockdown as a precaution.
Employees began tweeting about the lockdown before 11:30 a.m. The lockdown was lifted about 12:15 p.m.
During the event, Montgomery County police told WTOP they had no information about what was happening.
After the incident cleared, Montgomery County police tweeted that they were responding to a possible shooting:
