Bridge repair to disrupt Amtrak service next week

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Amtrak passengers taking the Missouri River Runner between St. Louis and Kansas City will be bused for a portion of their trip for two days next week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says Union Pacific Railroad is replacing a bridge near the Kansas City suburb of Lee’s Summit, forcing the track to temporarily close.

Passengers on afternoon trains 313 and 316 will be bused between Kansas City and Jefferson City on Wednesday, and on all of the trains on Thursday. Service is expected to be back to normal on Nov. 14.

MODOT says the bridge work is being completed ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel week. The busiest travel days are the Tuesday and Wednesday before the holiday and on the Sunday after.
