WASHINGTON (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says Republican victories in governor’s races across the country show voters want leaders who will “get things done,” rather that fighting over ideology.

Speaking during a morning show victory lap Wednesday, the chairman of the Republican Governors Association and possible 2016 candidate for president, said he was gratified by GOP wins in Democratic-leaning states such as Maryland, Massachusetts and Illinois, as well as victories in key swing states like Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio.

Christie said voters “elect and re-elect governors to get things done.”

“People are so tired of the gridlock and the ugliness in Washington,” he said on CNN’s “New Day.” ”I think they rewarded Republican governors because they were getting things done.”

Christie, who campaigned for GOP candidates across the country, said the winners deserve the credit, not him. “It’s always about the candidates,” he said on NBC’s “Today” show.

Christie was repeatedly asked about his 2016 ambitions. But after visiting 19 states in the 5 days leading into Tuesday, he said he needs a nap before he starts to consider his political future and whether he’ll run.

He said he plans to make a decision in the coming months.

Christie’s morning also included appearances on ABC’s “Good Morning America,’ CBS’s “This Morning” and Fox News Channel.
